New York, June 11, 2019 – ELSI AND ALGOEXPERT are the winners of the 11th FrenchAmerican Entrepreneurship Award (FAEA), an annual startup competition organized by Club 600. The winners were revealed last night at a special ceremony and reception held at FIAF French Institute Alliance Francaise, after a helicopter crashed on the roof of the Bank of the West building where the event was planned to be held.

First place winner ELSI, was represented by Founder and CEO Elsa Jungman and Theo Vanhaecke, Marketing & Sales Manager. Based on 10 years of dermatological research with renowned French and US institutions, ELSI attacks the damage caused to skin by beauty products and the environment. The company is disrupting the $120B health and beauty industry with personalized and science-backed clean skincare for sensitive skin that empowers the skin ecosystem (special focus on the skin microbiome), supported by advanced analytics and a scientific diagnosis.

Second place winner ALGOEXPERT was represented by Clement Mihailescu, Co-Founder & CEO, and Antoine Pourchet, CTO. AlgoExpert helps prospective software engineers prepare for algorithm-intensive programming interviews -- the types of interviews commonly given by big tech companies. It offers an organized online platform with 70 curated practice interview questions. Each question is accompanied by an in-depth 2-part video explanation (a conceptual “whiteboard” overview of the algorithm at hand and a coding walkthrough of the solution), written solutions in five popular programming languages, a full-fledged coding workspace where users can type out and run their code against premade test cases, and hints. These features make AlgoExpert the best all-in-one tool to prepare for coding interviews.

The first-place and second-place winners received a cash prize of $10,000 and $5,000. In addition, both winners received coaching from CCE (Conseillers du Commerce Exterieur de France) Dreamstart 1234; a round-trip ticket to Paris provided by AirFrance, fully furnished office space in New York City for six months provided by Corporate Suites; a one year membership to French Founders, media appearance and media coverage opportunities. The winners also received a trophy especially designed and made by LR Paris. Four semi-finalists, including the winners, presented their companies to an esteemed jury on Sunday, and again last night, to an audience of approximately 100 French-American business leaders as well as an expert panel who conducted a lively Q&A with each candidate. The panel was comprised of Jonathan Cherki, Founder & CEO, ContentSquare; Nathalie KosciuskoMorizet, Executive VP, Cloud & Cyber Security NA, Capgemini America; and Matt Turck, Partner, FirstMark Capital.

BEEWAKE, represented by Chief Bee Jeremie Catez, allows employees to work in the best place at the best time by implementing remote work.

REPLIKA SOFTWARE, represented by Co-Founder Karen Mallet, is the retail industry social selling solution enabling brands to activate their sales associates/brand ambassadors to connect, inspire and sell online and on social media. Social sellers have a turnkey business on their phone to sell directly from their brand website, along with clienteling, marketing and social media tools. By activating social sellers, brands create additional selling channels and extend a human connection with consumers.

The French-American Entrepreneurship Award is open to company founders in business for three years or less who are fluent in both French and English. Geared to early stage projects, eligible entries must offer a product or a service that is commercially viable on the American market with a demonstrated ability to generate revenues.
